A Bit About University City District

The impetus for the creation of the University City District (UCD) lay in former Penn President Judith Rodin's West Philadelphia Initiatives, a multi-pronged approach for community revitalization in the neighborhoods surrounding Penn. The UCD is bounded by 29th Street and the Schuylkill River on the east, 50th Street on the west, Spring Garden Street (to 40th Street), Powelton Avenue (to 44th Street), and Market Street on the north, and Civic Center Boulevard, University Avenue, and Woodland Avenue to the south. The UCD gets its name from the West Philadelphia institutions of higher education that are the area's core stakeholders: Drexel, Lincoln University, Penn, the Restaurant School, USP.
